On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy PM Phuc highly valued Mainichi Newspapers’ coordination with Vietnamese competent agencies to host the 16 th World Police Music Festival in Hanoi , which, he said, is a meaningful cultural event that helps to consolidate peace in the world.

Phuc said the effective cooperation between Vietnam and Japan over the past time serves as a foundation for the two strategic partners to further boost their relations.

The Deputy PM affirmed that the incident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant caused by the recent earthquake and tsunami will not affect Vietnam ’s policy to develop nuclear power for peaceful purposes.

Vietnam always attaches importance to Japan ’s official development assistance (ODA), Phuc said, adding that about 1,600 Japanese businesses are operating successfully in Vietnam .

Vietnam encourages foreign enterprises, including Japan , to invest in the country, he stressed.


Established in 1872, Mainichi is the oldest newspaper in Japan . It is now a mass media group ranking third in Japan in terms of publication and staff.


With two daily newspapers published in the mornings and afternoons, the group exerts significant influence on public opinion in Japan . Mainichi Newspaper has run many articles featuring the fine relations between Vietnam and Japan. /.
