Hanoi (VNA) – An international symposium featuring Dien Bien Phu campaign65 years ago was organised in Hanoi on May 2, drawing a number of domestic andforeign researchers.

The event was jointlyheld by several Vietnamese educational institutions like Vietnam NationalUniversity - Hanoi and Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the French Embassy in Vietnam andFrance’s Paul Valéry University of Montpellier 3.

Participants focusedtheir discussions on the role of Dien Bien Phu victory for the region and theworld as well as development prospects for relations between Vietnamese andFrench localities.

The Dien Bien PhuCampaign lasted from March to May 1954 under the command of General Vo NguyenGiap. Vietnam’s victory on May 7, 1954 led to the signing of the 1954 GenevaAccords in which France agreed to withdraw its forces from its colonies inIndochina.-VNA

National, local traffic safety committees to be dissolved from June 1
