A high-ranking delegation from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) visited a civil equipment research and production complex of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) at Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on February 28.

Hanoi (VNA) – A high-ranking delegation from the DemocraticPeople’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) visited a civil equipment research andproduction complex of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group(Viettel) at Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on February 28.

They includedPolitburo member, Vice Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) CentralCommittee, and head of the WPK’s International Affairs Department Ri Su-yong;Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee, and head of theWPK’s Cadres’ Affairs Department Kim Pyong-hae; and Politburo member, ViceChairman of the WPK Central Committee, and head of the WPK’s Economic AffairsDepartment O Su-yong.

The tour was a fringeactivity of the high-ranking delegation during their trip to Vietnam for thesecond DPRK-USA summit in Hanoi and the official visit to Vietnam by Chairmanof the WPK Central Committee Kim Jong-un.

DPRK officials visitedViettel’s global telecom centre which oversees and operates the telecom andinformation technology system in Vietnam, as well as providing technicalassistance for 10 foreign telecom companies.

They were introducedto the group’s core telecom equipment system, alongside devices and solutions usedby fishing vessels.

Viettel Deputy GeneralDirector Major General Hoang Son said that Viettel was honoured as one of the500 most valuable brands in the world in 2019, with its brand value having grownby 35.8 percent over last year to more than 4.3 billion USD.

Viettel has more than100 million subscribers in Vietnam and 10 foreign nations, Son added.

Speaking at themeeting, Ri Su-yong conveyed his hope that both sides would cooperate in thetime ahead.

The DPRK delegationthen went on to visit the Dan Hoai co-operative’s orchid planting model in DanPhuong district of Hanoi. –VNA

Vietnam, Côte d'Ivoire strengthen parliamentary, economic ties

On parliamentary cooperation, the top Vietnamese legislator called for increased the exchange of high-level delegations and closer collaboration between the two legislatures, including sharing legislative experience and strengthening ties between their respective committees.

Deputy PM hails cooperation in personnel training with Japan

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra highly valued the training programme jointly implemented since 2022 by Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Japan’s erex Co., Ltd, which focuses on enhancing public administration capacity, particularly for grassroots officials, young civil servants and female cadres.
