Various training workshops, funded by the European Commission, will be held this month for educators across Vietnam to help improve education management and assessment in the country.

The information was released at a two-day conference opened in Nha Trang city of Khanh Hoa province on March 2, which discussed the implementation of the Support to the Renovation of Education Management (SREM) project in 2010, the final year of the project.

The training workshops are planned to help education and training departments around the country develop Project Management Information System (PMIS), Education Management Information System (EMIS) and Vietnamese EMIS (VEMIS).

The conference created an opportunity for participants to discuss methods and measures to implement the SREM project, and introduced two new systems for managing libraries and school equipment.

Launched in early 2006, the SREM project has a total funding of 14.4 million EUR, of which the EC contributed 12 million EUR and the remaining came from the Vietnamese government’s budget.

The project focuses on strengthening management capacity of education administrators and IT-based management systems in the national education and training system./.
