As many as 3,200 households in the Mekong Delta provinces of An Giang and Dong Thap, which are frequently visited by flood, have had new homes and clean water supply facilities to stabilize their lives.
They are beneficiaries of a 17.7 billion VND project funded by the Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department of the European Commission.
The outcomes of the project were reviewed by the Vietnam Red Cross in An Giang province on July 26.
Initiated in August, 2012, the project provided these families with financial aid to build homes and clean water supply facilities.
Local people and pupils were told about the importance of using safe water and methods to ensure public hygiene.
The project also organised training courses on management over funding and funded facilities for Red Cross staff, health workers and teachers in these localities.-VNA
