The European Commission has decided to provide 1.4 million euros to help people in Vietnam ’s central provinces that suffered floods in October, according to the EC press release on Dec. 28.
The relief is aimed to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of over 100,000 people.
Sean Doyle, Head of the European Union (EU) delegation to Vietnam stressed the fact that thousands of Vietnamese citizens in the central region had been badly affected by floods and the EU assistance targets the most vulnerable people, addressing their most urgent needs.
The EC’s relief for Vietnam is part of a regional allocation of 7 million euros of humanitarian assistance for over 300,000 people in the Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar.
The aid will reach approximately 40,000 people who live in the most isolated and remote communities in the Philippines, benefit 250,000 people in Myanmar, and around 100,000 people in Vietnam./.
