Egypt event honours Ho Chi Minh as a diplomat

World-famous diplomats, including late President Ho Chi Minh, who led Vietnam to victory in its national liberation, were honoured at a conference held in Cairo, Egypt on April 14 by the Organisation of Egypt and the World.

The event saw the participation ofrepresentatives from the embassies of Asian, African and Mideast nationsalong with Egyptian scholars and international students in the country.

Inhis opening speech at the conference, Vietnamese Charge d’Affaires a.i.to Egypt Nguyen Hong Son briefed participants on the stages of theVietnamese revolution, including the event when President Ho Chi Minhdelivered the Declaration of Independence 69 years ago, to establish theDemocratic Republic of Vietnam - the first people’s democratic statein Southeast Asia, which is now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam .

Son,one of the five key speakers, highlighted the major points of Ho ChiMinh’s diplomacy, which is built upon several principles such assteadfastness in goal, a flexible strategy, good understanding of theother side, establishing alliance to isolate the main rival, andpursuing the policy of national independence in connection withinternational solidarity and cooperation.

The President of theOrganisation of Egypt and the World, Magdy Morgan and key speakers fromChina, Iraq and Morocco praised the late Vietnamese leader for his greatcontributions to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause and the nationalliberation movement of oppressed nations in the world.-VNA

19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Four more provinces have announced the completion of efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Vietnam accelerates repatriation of citizens detained in Myanmar

On April 8, 28, and May 14, three groups comprising a total of 471 citizens safely returned to Vietnam. This marked an important initial success, paving the way for additional repatriation efforts later this month, with the goal of bringing all remaining Vietnamese citizens stranded in Myawaddy, Myanmar, back home as soon as possible.
