Eight Tay Bac localities enjoy fruitful tourism cooperation

Phu Tho (VNA) – Eight Tay Bac (northwesternmountainous) provinces enjoyed a year-on-year rise of 11.8 percent in thenumber of visitors in 2016 thanks to their close cooperation in tourismpromotion.

Last year, the localities, comprising Phu Tho, Lao Cai, LaiChau, Dien Bien, Son La, Yen Bai, Ha Giang and Hoa Binh, welcomed nearly 18million visitors, including 1.2 million foreigners.

At a conference held in Phu Tho on January 9 to review thelocalities’ tourism partnership in 2016, participants noted that theaffiliation showed good results in terms of policies, expansion of products, promotionand development of human resources for the tourism sector.

However, they held that in the coming time, the localitiesshould organise more regular exchanges to boost tourism towards exploitingtheir similarities and promote each locality’s unique.

They sought measures to further diversify tourism productsand develop strong products of each locality, while stressing the need forhigher quality human resources for the sector as more than 60 employees in theregional tourism are untrained.

In 2017, the eight localities will work closely to implementthe National Tourism Year Tay Bac-Lao Cai 2017, while holding a Tay Bac tourismfair and join international events. They will also focus on building a waterwaytour on the Da River.

On the occasion, the culture departments, tourism promotion centresand travel associations of the eight localities signed a cooperation programmefor 2017.-VNA

Vietnam tourism promoted at Canadian travel, vacation show

In the first three months, the province welcomed 2.6 million visitors, including 152,000 foreigners, up nearly 14% and 17% year-on-year, respectively. Tourism revenue surpassed 7 trillion VND, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.
