Eighteen national treasures exhibited for first time

As many as 18 national treasures of Vietnam are being exhibited for the first time at the Vietnam National Museum of History from January 10 to May 2017.

Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 18 national treasures of Vietnam are beingexhibited for the first time at the Vietnam National Museum of History fromJanuary 10 to May 2017.

Amongthe displayed are two freshly recognised in December 2016. They are the goldenseal of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu, made in 1709, and Thong gom hoa nau (a ceramicjar with brown colored glaze patterns) from the 13th to 14th century which wasdiscovered in the northern province of Nam Dinh in 1972.

Othernational treasures include Ngoc Lu and Hoang Ha bronze drums of the Dong Sonculture, the Dao Thinh glazed terra-cotta jar, a statue depicting two menplaying panpipes, a lamp in the form of a kneeling person, a boat tomb, the VoCanh stele, the bell at Van Ban Pagoda, among others.

Theexhibition also showcases important historical works such as Nhat ky trong tu (ThePrison Diary), Duong Kach Menh (Revolutionary Path) and the manuscripts of theCall for National Resistance by President Ho Chi Minh.

Theexhibition is hoped to help visitors get a systematic understanding of thehistorical and cultural values of the national treasures as well as the skilfulnessof Vietnamese artists, thus encouraging patriotism and raising the sense ofresponsibility of the people for preserving Vietnamese culture.

Onthe occasion, the Vietnam National Museum of History received a model of 5.75mlong and 3.47m tall of the cannon made by villagers in Dong Ky of the northernprovince of Bac Ninh.-VNA

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Vietnamese, Chinese cities to build smart border gate pair

They also consented to promote the development of a cross-border economic cooperation zone through sectoral cooperation at Hai Yen industrial park, Van Ninh international port in Mong Cai; a cross-border e-commerce industrial park; and transport connectivity projects between the two cities including the international railway line from Mong Cai to Dongxing, Bac Luan III bridge, and an auxiliary rough steel bridge.

Fisherman receives emergency care at Song Tu Tay infirmary

A fisherman from central Quang Ngai province was given emergency treatment for severe respiratory distress at the Song Tu Tay island infirmary in the island district of Truong Sa, the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on March 11, after falling ill while fishing at sea.

Injured fishermen saved at sea off Truong Sa, Ca Mau waters

The Truong Sa island clinic of the Naval Region 4’s Brigade 146 in Truong Sa district, the south-central province of Khanh Hoa, on March 10 received and provided emergency treatment to a fisherman injured while fishing in the Truong Sa waters.

Hanoi court begins trial for deadly apartment fire tragedy

The Hanoi People's Court opened the first-instance trial on March 10, bringing eight defendants to justice over the deadly fire that engulfed a nine-story mini apartment building on Khuong Ha street, Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi on September 12, 2023, claiming 56 lives and leaving 44 others injured.
