Electronic toll collection applied along entire Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway

Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway is applying full electronic toll collection (ETC) on a trial basis, starting at 9am on June 1, according to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway is applying full electronic tollcollection (ETC) on a trial basis, starting at 9am on June 1, according to the Directoratefor Roads of Vietnam.

Preparationsfor the service on the expressway, including traffic control and response plans fordifferent scenarios, have already been completed, Vu Huu Thanh, Deputy GeneralDirector of the expressway manager - Vietnam Infrastructure Development andFinance Investment JSC (VIDIFI), told Vietnam News Agency on May 31.

Henoted the ETC system has been used on this road for two years, and VIDIFI has managedto deal with many of the scenarios, adding that detailed response plans werebuilt so as to handle different incidents in a timely manner and minimiseinconvenience for motorists.

BuiThi Quynh, Deputy Director of VIDIFI’s Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway Operation andManagement Co Ltd, said VIDIFI had asked the ETC tag supplier to arrange more tagprovision sites at the entrances and exits of this road. It will take onlyseveral minutes to complete procedures.

Thanhsaid nearly 90 percent of the vehicles on the expressway have had ETC tags, andover 70 percent have used this service.

Vehicles without those tags or insufficient money in ECT accountswill be fined if they intentionally enter ETC lanes.

According to the Government’s Decree 123/2021/ND-CP, driversof such vehicles will face fines ranging from 1 - 2 million VND (43 - 86 USD)and have their driving licences withdrawn for between 1 - 3 months./.

AIC case in Ca Mau: Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan sentenced to 10 years in prison

The People's Court of Ca Mau province on August 12 sentenced former Chairwoman and General Director of the Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan to ten years in prison for "violating bidding regulations, causing serious consequences" in a case involving the inflation of equipment prices for environmental monitoring stations in the former Bac Lieu province (now Ca Mau province).
