(Photo: VOV) HCMCity (VNA) - The Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund will provide the Mo duongden tuong lai (A Brighter Path) scholarships to at least 33 ethnic girls toenable them to complete high school and tertiary education in the next sevenyears.
Recipientswill get seven-year scholarships worth 220 million VND (9,700 USD) each forthree years of high school and four years of university.
Themoney will cover tuition fees, books, food, housing, uniforms, mentoring andtraining in soft skills.
Atleast 33 girls will be selected based on their academic records and passion forsocial development.
Annuallythey will be invited to attend courses in soft skills and network withprominent women leaders from the Government and business sector.
Thescholarships from VinaCapital Foundation strive not only for a better futurefor ethnic minority girls but also practical support for them along the way, TruongMy Hoa, former deputy president of the country and president of the Vu A Dinh ScholarshipFund, said.
Theaccomplishments of these girls in overcoming obstacles would change their livesand enable them to have a positive impact on their ethnic communities, she tolda press meeting held on June 12 to kick off phase two of the project.
Inthe first phase between 2011 and 2017, 50 school girls from 24 ethnic minoritygroups received financial support worth a total of 317,610 USD.
Fortysix went on to attend colleges and universities, with 35 already graduating andthe rest graduating next year.-VNA
