President of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin has urged the European Union (EU) to continue strengthening bilateral ties in fields, particularly in trade.

The NA President made the statement during his reception for outgoing EU Ambassador to Cambodia Jean-François Cautain in Phnom Penh on June 25.

He spoke of the significant development of partnership between the two sides, saying the EU is a key trade partner of Cambodia. He thus requested the EU side to open more markets for Cambodian products, particularly farm produce.

According to statistics, Cambodia’s import-export revenue reached over 19 billion USD in 2014, up 18 percent from the previous year. The country’s key exports included garment, footwear, sugar, rice, rubber and timber.-VNA
