Some 54 Japanese industrial producers and manufacturers are showcasing their products and services at the third Vietnam-Japan Supporting Industries Exhibition, to seek out capable local suppliers of components and spare parts.

The two-day exhibition, which opened in Hanoi on Nov. 12, is also being attended by 62 Vietnamese businesses whose products service the automobile, electrical and electronics industries.

At the opening ceremony, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Sakaba Mitsuo said that establishing developed support industries is extremely important for Vietnam so it can raise its industrial sector’s international competitiveness.

According to Do Thang Hai, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Promotion Department, supporting industries play an important role in the industrialisation and modernisation of Vietnam as they help to spur on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and the production of highly competitive products for export.

He said he hoped that the exhibition will act as a bridge for Vietnamese and Japanese businesses in the supporting industries sector and help to accelerate the transfer of technologies by Japanese-invested businesses in Vietnam to local Vietnamese businesses./.
