Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on November 6 received 700 million VND (over 31,000 USD) and 10,000 USD donated by overseas Vietnamese to local residents in flood-hit central provinces.
The money was contributed by Vietnamese expatriates in Poland and the Czech Republic and delegates attending the Congress of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe.
Leaders of the VFF Central Committee thanked overseas Vietnamese in Poland, the Czech Republic and of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe for their donations. They affirmed that the sum will be delivered to the flood victims to help them stabilise their lives and production.
From October 17 to November 4, the VFF Central Committee received a total of over 18 billion VND (equivalent to 806,000 USD) donated to affected people.
Vice President and Secretary General of the VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man said the five flood-struck provinces have been offered 59 billion VND (2.6 million USD) as relief aid from VFF and other sources.-VNA
