Famous European director stages Shakespeare’s play in Hanoi

Renowned Austrian director Beverly Blankenship has teamed up with artists of the Hanoi-based Youth Theatre to stage a new edition of William Shakespeare’s popular play “Romeo and Juliet”, announced the theatre on November 13.

Hanoi (VNA) – RenownedAustrian director Beverly Blankenship has teamed up with artists of theHanoi-based Youth Theatre to stage a new edition of William Shakespeare’s popularplay “Romeo and Juliet”, announced the theatre on November 13.

The play will be performed at the YouthTheatre on November 16-17 and 24, with English subtitle available.

Blankenship joined a stage project in Hanoiin 2010 and then became a teacher at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema.

She also took part in the arrangement ofexchanges between the academy’s lecturers and students and Austria’s Universityof Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

In the past over 40 years, the YouthTheatre has staged various famous plays of prominent playwrights across theworld, including those by Shakespeare such as “Hamlet”, “Othello” and“Macbeth”./.
