Fatherland front leader visits China

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) will pursue the policy of furthering cooperation with the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), in order to contribute to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

President of VFF CentralCommittee Nguyen Thien Nhan made the remarks during talks with Chairmanof the CPPCC’s National Committee Yu Zhengsheng in Beijing onFebruary 23.

The VFF leader reflected on the visit toChina by President Truong Tan Sang and the Vietnamese visit by ChinesePremier Li Keqiang in 2013. He said that those diplomatic occasions,along with his current visit (from February 21-25), reaffirm Vietnam’s wish to enhance comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties,States and peoples.

Highlighting the two committees’significance to each country’s political life, Nhan voiced his hope thatthey will further develop their important role in national constructionand development while effectively implementing outstanding agreements.

Echoing Nhan’s comments, Yu Zhengsheng suggested the twosides step up their partnership in the time ahead, especially throughthe exchange of delegations and the organisation of seminars.

He spoke highly of the China-Vietnam relationship over the past year,saying China has long pursued a policy of friendly neighbourlinessand wishes to aid Vietnamese development.

After their talks,Nhan and Yu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understandingregarding VFF-CPPCC cooperation from 2014-2019.

Earlier,Nhan undertook a fact-finding tour to CPPCC’s Heping chapter, Tianjincity, during which he met with Sun Chunlan, Secretary of the municipalPeople’s Committee and He Lifeng, president of the chapter.

Nhan expressed his hope that more and more Tianjin businesses willinvest in Vietnam , contributing to promoting the traditionalfriendship between the two countries.

Tianjin, whichhas a twin relationship with Vienam’s northern port city of Hai Phong, has 19 projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital ofmore than 50 million USD.

Trade between the city andVietnamese localities in 2013 exceeded 3 billion USD, up 75 percentagainst the previous year.-VNA
