Contractors will officially hand over the Ca Mau fertiliser plant to the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group by the end of this month.

On January 30, the plant went into production after 42 months of construction.

Built at a cost of 780 million USD, the plant is a part of the Ca Mau Gas-Electricity-Fertiliser complex. It is a key national project and is expected to ensure stable supplies of fertiliser for the country by 2025.

The plant has the capacity to produce 800,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser a year, meeting about 40 percent of the nations demand.

The plant is the final component of the Ca Mau Gas-Electricity-Fertiliser complex, which has an overall value of over 34 trillion VND and will support nearly 1,200 jobs./.
