Ho Chi Minh City will hold firework shows in eight venues on April 30 as part of activities to celebrate National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2015).
The 15-minute shows are scheduled for 10:00 pm at the Bitexco Financial Tower, Ben Duoc martyr memorial site, Nga Ba Giong martyr memorial site, Lang Le-Bau Co historical relic site, Can Gio district football ground, Historical and Cultural Ethnic park, Dam Sen cultural park and Go Vap flower village park, said Hua Ngoc Thuan, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.
On this occasion, a special art and music performance will take place at 30/4 Park to commemorate the 40 th anniversary of the Southern Region Liberation and the National Reunification as well as the 129 th International Liberation Day (May 1).
A grand meeting will be held, followed by military and civilian parades along Le Duan Street in front of Thong Nhat Square. The events will be broadcast live on television nationwide.
The cerebrations aim to honour the historical significance of the April 30 victory, commemorating the individuals who sacrificed their lives for the country’s liberation as well as highlighting the great achievements of the country and Ho Chi Minh City over the past four decades.-VNA
