Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Company (PVFCCo) has shipped the first consignment of Phu My fertilizer in 2014 to Myanmar.

According to the company, amid the cut-throat competition of fertilizers from China , Myanmar farmers still favour Phu My brand for its outstanding quality and packaging.

With its vast acreage of farmland, Myanmar has to import about 1.5 million tonnes of fertiliser each year.

The demand for imported fertilizers will continue rising as the Myanmar government has set ambitious targets for higher agricultural output.

PCFCCO set up its representative office in the country in May 2013, enabling it to advertise its products and facilitate its Myanmar market exports.

Cao Hoai Duong, General Director of PVFCCo, said the company is actively looking for new markets and customers at home and abroad, in order to increase domestic market share to 77 percent by 2015 and boost export to foreign countries with an export target from 300,000-400,000 tonnes of urea to the markets in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Philippines, Myanmar.-VNA
