Hanoi (VNA) – A COVID-19 patient with multiplecomorbidities died on July 31 morning, according to the National SteeringCommittee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
The committee’s treatmentsub-committee said the 70-year-old man died of myocardial infarction, with chronic diseases ofhypertension, heart failure, end-stage chronic renal failure, andcomplications of respiratory failure due to heart failure and COVID-19.
Thepatient, a resident of Hoi An town in the central province of Quang Nam, developed chest pain and fatigue on July 9, and was admitted to Da Nang Hospital.
OnJuly 26 he tested positive for the novel coronavirus that causes the disease, and was treated in thesame hospital. The patient was transferred to the Hue Central Hospital in thecentral province of Thua Thien-Hue on July 30 night.
Asof 10:am on July 31, Vietnam had reported 509 COVID-19 cases, with 80 in DaNang city, including eight medical workers, 44 patients, 26 family members ofpatients, and two detected in the community.
OnJuly 31 alone, the country confirmed 45 cases, all of whom had been quarantinedat medical facilities and tested for the virus.
Thirteencases were also reported in the central provinces of Quang Nam (seven) andQuang Ngai (one), Ho Chi Minh City (two), Hanoi (two) and the Central Highlandsprovince of Dak Lak (one). All of them are linked to the Da Nang outbreak./.
