Foreign leaders extend condolences over death of former President

Leaders of Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Palestine have sent messages and letters of condolences to leaders of the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people over the passing of former President General Le Duc Anh.

Hanoi (VNA) - Leaders ofCambodia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Palestine have sent messages and lettersof condolences to leaders of the Vietnamese Party,State, Government and people over the passing of former President General LeDuc Anh.

In his letter of condolences to General Secretary of the Communist Party ofVietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Cambodian King NorodomSihamoni offered the deepest condolences to the top Vietnamese leader, peopleand the family of former President General Le Duc Anh. 

King Norodom Sihamoni also highlightedthe late leader’s great contributions toVietnam’s national construction and development cause, affirming that formerPresident Le Duc Anh was an excellent and respectable leader of Vietnam.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Bin Abdulaziz AlSaud and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also DeputyPrime Minister and Defence Minister, extended their condolences to Party General Secretary andPresident Nguyen Phu Trong.

Moroccan King Mohammed VI and Palestinian President, Chairman of the PalestineLiberation Organization (PLO) Mahmoud Abbasalso sent messages of condolences to PartyGeneral Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Kamal Malhotra sent a letter of condolences to DeputyPrime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

General Le DucAnh, who served as President of Vietnam from September 1992 to December 1997,passed away on April 22 at the age of 99.-VNA
