Hanoi (VNA)– Leaders of Cambodia and Russia, as well as those of foreign parties have senttheir condolences to leaders of the Vietnamese Party, State, Government, peopleand family of Do Muoi over the former Party chief’s passing away.

In his message,Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni described the deceased as an outstanding leaderwho had made active contributions to the national construction and developmentof Vietnam. His passing away is a great loss to the Vietnamese nation andpeople, the monarch said.

Meanwhile, Chairman ofthe Cambodian People’s Party Hun Sen also expressed his grief at the news ofthe passing away of Do Muoi. The Cambodian leader called Do Muoi a heroicleader who worked untiringly for the revolutionary cause of the VietnameseParty as well as the national reconstruction and development. The deceased’s whole-heartedservices to Vietnam will surely be remembered, Hun Sen affirmed.

For his part, RussianPrime Minister and head of the United Russia political party in Russia DmitryMedvedev described Do Muoi as an outstanding politician of Vietnam who was alwaysassociated with the struggle for national independence, construction anddevelopment of the country. He highlighted that the deceased had made greatcontributions to the consolidation of the Russisa – Vietnam relations, andstressed that Russia will forever remember Do Muoi as a good friend of his country.

Besides, leaders ofmany political parties in India, Urugay, Turkey, Republic of Korea, Portugaland Brazil have also sent their condolences to Vietnamese leaders over thepassing of Do Muoi.

According to the organizingboard of the state funeral for Do Muoi, by 5:00pm of October 6, more than 1.500delegations totaling over 50,000 people and more than 100 diplomatic delegationshad paid their last respect to Do Muoi in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The respect-paying service for Do Muoiwill continue until 7:30am of October 7, a memory service for him will be heldat 9:00am the same day in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, while the burial servicewill take place at 1:00pm at his home village on the outskirts of Hanoi.

Former GeneralSecretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Do Muoi was bornon February 2, 1917, in Dong My commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi. He passedaway in Hanoi on October 1 at the age of 101 due to serious illness. He servedas General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee from June 1991 to December1997, and was presented with an insignia of 80-year Party membership.
