Phnom Penh (VNA) – A delegation of Vietnamese former experts and volunteer soldiers, who helped free Cambodian people from the Pol Pot genocidal regime, is making a trip to Cambodia from March 21.
The delegation consists of 90 members, who are former experts and volunteer soldiers, family members of martyrs, and voluntary contributors across seven cities and provinces in Vietnam.
At a meeting with the delegation in the Vietnam Embassy in Cambodia on March 24, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh took the occasion to brief his guests on Vietnam – Cambodia relations last year, particularly in trade and investment, as well as on Cambodia’s socio-economic development four decades after the war.
The same day, the delegation were joined by delegates from the embassy and the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in paying tribute to fallen soldiers at the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Monument in Siem Reap province.
The trip of the former experts and volunteer soldiers is part of activities marking the 40th anniversary of the victory of Vietnam’s southwest border defence war and the joint victory on January 7 of Vietnam and Cambodia over the genocidal regime (1979 - 2019).-VNA
