The Police Agency in central Ha Tinh province began criminal proceedings against the case of a recent serious scaffold collapse due to a labour law violation, unveiled the agency’s Vice Director Bui Dinh Quang on March 31.
The incident occurred at 8 pm on March 25 when around 100 workers were working on a 30-metre scaffold at Taiwanese-invested Formosa steel complex project in the Vung Ang economic zone.
Thirteen died and 28 sustained injuries in the accident.
A failure in the hydraulic brake system in the structure is to blame for the tragedy.
Kim Hyung Sub, Deputy General Director of the project’s contractor Samsung C&T, admitted his company’s remiss in operating the scaffold.-VNA
