Hanoi (VNA) - Defender Doan Van Hau has attracted the attention of Germany’s Fortuna Dusseldorf FC, according to Hoang Anh Tuan, coach of the U20 squad.
Hau, 18, trains and plays with V.League champions Hanoi FC. The 1.82m athlete was one of the best players of the U19 team and won a berth to compete at the upcoming U20 World Cup in the Republic of Korea in May.
“In my opinion, if he receives strong support he will be able to compete in Europe,” Tuan said. He revealed that Fortuna Dusseldorf contacted Hanoi FC and wanted to bring Hau over to test his skills by joining their U19 side.
Coach Vu Hong Viet of Hanoi FC also had words of praise for his player.
“He is the best in this generation in Hanoi FC. Hau has good physique, height and a great left leg. Despite being a defender, he can score well from free kicks with that leg,” Viet said.
Responding to the news, Hau, meanwhile, said he had not yet received an official offer, but added that it would be great news to any player to get an opportunity to play abroad.
Hau and his teammates will play a friendly match against Fortuna Dusseldorf’s young team as part of their training in April. They will also compete against Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven.
