A children’s forum took place in central Thanh Hoa province on July 19 with the hope to better the implementation of children rights, especially children engagement right.

At the forum, local children expressed their wishes through paintings, music performances and plays such as protection against abuse, playgrounds and entertainment parks for children, and free health treatment for poor children.

Provincial leaders listened to and answered the children’s questions on issues of their concern.

The ideas presented at the forum were expected to help policy makers in devising policies better meeting children’s needs. They also contribute to raising awareness of authorities, community, families, and children themselves about children’s rights.

The forum was organised by the provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs in partnership with the World Vision country to collect children’s feedback to the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education.

Vietnam is working to revise this law, which has revealed a number of shortcomings after eight years of implementation.-VNA
