Buenos Aires (VNA) – The embassy and the military attaché agency of Vietnam in Venezuela in conjunction with the Venezuelan Ministry of Defence hosted a meeting on December 14 to mark the 77th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944). Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Defence Attaché in Venezuela Colonel Vu The Trung reviewed President Ho Chi Minh's Directive on the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Team on December 22, 1944 in Cao Bang province - the first major unit of the revolutionary armed forces and predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army.
He also recalled glorious victories and brilliant milestones in the struggle for independence and national reunification, including the historic Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954 and the Ho Chi Minh Campaign in 1975.
Trung stressed that the Vietnam People's Army has made important contributions to the country's development achievements during the 35 years of the Doi moi (renewal) process.
On behalf of the Venezuelan Ministry of Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Pascualino Angiolillo Fernández expressed his admiration for the unyielding and indomitable spirit of the Vietnamese army and people in the two resistance wars./.
