Founding anniversary of Vietnamese army observed in Laos

– Vietnam’s Military Attaché Office in Laos held aceremony in Vientiane on December 21 to mark the 73rd foundinganniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22).

Lao DefenceMinister Senior Lieutenant General Chansamone Chanyalath, Vietnamese Chargéd’affaires in Laos Nguyen Thanh Tung and representatives from the LaoMinistries of Defence and Security and Defence Attaché Offices of otherscountries in Laos, and the Vietnamese community in the country attended theevent.

Speaking at theceremony, Vietnamese Defence Attaché in Laos Major Tao Van Thai stressed thatover the past 73 years, under the leadership of the Communist Partyof Vietnam, the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) has been developing constantly, contributingto great victories in the struggle for national liberation and the currentcause of nation construction and protection.

Together withthe police force, the VPA pioneers in search and rescue missions, tacklingdisaster consequences, and joining United Nations peacekeeping missions, Thaisaid.

He stressed thatdefence relations between Vietnam and Laos have continued developing in apractical, effective and intensive manner.

The officer expressedhis belief that the traditional friendship, special solidarity andcomprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos would grow further in 2018.-VNA
