Four national records were set at the 2012 Vietnam National Athletics Championships which closed on October 9 at My Dinh national stadium in Hanoi.
One record in hammer throw was set by Trinh Tan Nhanh from Vinh Long province, while Quach Thi Lan of Thanh Hoa province made her name in the 400m hurdles. In women’s marathon, athlete Pham Thi Binh broke the record set by Pham Thi Hien at the SEA Games 24 in Thailand in 2007.
During the five-day tournament, the military team has claimed the top position with eight golds, four silvers and two bronzes.
The host team, Hanoi, is in second place with six golds, six silvers and seven bronzes. It was followed by Nam Dinh team with four golds, nine silvers and four bronzes.
As the country’s biggest annual athletics tournament with the participation of 416 athletes from 42 teams nationwide, the competition provided an opportunity for them to sharpen their skills to compete in the regional and international sports events.-VNA
