Hanoi (VNA) - Global ICT company FPT Software, a subsidiary of the FPT Corporation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a strategic partnership with Vilja, a leading Nordic core banking service provider based in Stockholm, in the framework of the recent Vietnam-Sweden Business Forum 2024.

Leveraging FPT Software's extensive technical expertise and global reach, the partnership is expected to introduce Vilja's first banking platform and cloud-based application programming interface to global businesses, with an initial focus on the rapidly growing digital economy in Asia. The collaboration also includes establishing a research and development centre in Asia which will specialise in pioneering diverse innovations to meet the increasing demand related to digital banking, particularly in areas of deposits and loans.

Chief Executive Officer of FPT Software Europe Tran Dung said that FPT Software is confident that its partnership with Vilja will continue to empower financial institutions with enhanced security and scalability, and improved user experiences.

By combining FPT’s expertise and global presence with Vilja's innovative solutions, FPT aims to set new standards and help financial institutions thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, he added.

Fredrik Ulvenholm, CEO of Vilja Solutions, stated that collaboration with FPT helps further solidify its position in the global market in providing cloud-based core banking solutions, and demonstrates its innovation and leading capabilities.

With FPT's experience, expertise, and reliable reputation, Vilja can gain global reach starting from Southeast Asia, with a focus on ASEAN countries, he said.

FPT Software has also inaugurated its first office in Stockholm, a strategic move driven by the country's increasing demand for digital services and high-quality IT professionals.

Located in Lindholmen Science Park, Gothenburg, Sweden's leading innovation hub, FPT's new office positions the company closer to industry giants, particularly those in the automotive, energy, and manufacturing domains, such as Volvo Group, Ericsson, Telia, SAAB, IBM, and Semcon. This strategic location also allows FPT to enhance its ability to expand its local presence, delivery capabilities, and consulting services across Nordic and the wider European region.

Dr. Truong Gia Binh, Founder and Chairman of FPT Corporation, stated that as a leading Vietnamese corporation, FPT is committed to deepening the bilateral ties between Vietnam and Sweden by advancing technological collaborations, especially in AI, smart mobility and green transformation.

The office will act as a vital bridge, connecting businesses of the two countries and enabling Nordic customers to innovate and grow with cutting-edge technologies, comprehensive solutions, and access to a world-class talent pool, Binh added.

FPT first entered the European market in 2008 and has since established a strong presence in nine countries, driving digital transformation for over 150 leading businesses across industries. The tech firm has also actively expanded its local footprint through strategic partnerships and acquisitions, including the acquisition of RWE IT Slovakia, a subsidiary of European energy giant RWE in 2014, and French IT consulting firm AOSIS in 2023./.
