France’s Order of Academic Palms presented to Vietnamese scholar

The Order of Academic Palms of France has been presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, Vice Rector of the Vietnam National University’s School of Economics and Law to honour his contribution to the two countries’ educational cooperation.

HCM City (VNA) – The Order of Academic Palms of France has been presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, Vice Rector of the School of Economics and Law under the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, to honour his contribution to the two countries’ educational cooperation.

The Order of Academic Palms, established in the early 19th century, is a noble decoration that the French Government bestows upon distinguished persons in the fields of education, science, culture, and arts.

On behalf of the French Ministry of National Education, Consul General of France in HCM City Vincent Floreani presented the order to Dien at a ceremony on July 19.

Floreani spoke highly of Dien’s contributions to Vietnam-France relations, especially in education, adding that the Order honours his dedication to bilateral academic and educational cooperation.

Nguyen Ngoc Dien is a member of the regional commission of experts of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) and President of the Association for Francophone Universities in the Asia-Pacific region. In November 2017, he was the first Vietnamese person to become an official member of France’s Academy of Overseas Sciences. 

Working at the School of Economics and Law since 2008, the academic has also helped promote student exchange and training programmes between his school and several prestigious universities in France. -VNA
