France’s charity organisation Coeur De Bambou will grant more than 114 million VND to provide eye operations for 75 disadvantaged children in the central province of Thanh Hoa in July and August.
A memorandum of understanding on the funding was signed in Hanoi on July 12 by Director of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), Vu Anh Dao and President of Coeur De Bambou, Claude Leonard.
Last year, the organisation donated 353 million VND to NFVC to support operations for 150 poor children with eye deformities in Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh and Lang Son provinces.
Part of the sum was spent on a project designed to provide training in embroidery skills for disadvantaged kids in the Red River Delta province of Ha Nam.
According to NFVC, the eye operation project is part of its ‘Children’s look’ programme, under which almost 24,560 children with eye deformities were operated on from 1998-2009, at a total cost of nearly 30 billion VND./.
