Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) CentralCommittee Do Van Chien has sent congratulations to Buddhists nationwide on the40th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) (November7, 1981 - 2021).

In his congratulatoryletter, Chien said the VBS, an active component in the great national solidarity blocand a member of the VFF, has made substantial contributions to national reformand development, the defence of national sovereignty and territorial integrity, socialwelfare, the building of new-style countryside and civilised cities, and especially,the current combat against COVID-19.

He noted the VFF CentralCommittee recognises and congratulates the VBS and Buddhist monks, nuns, andfollowers on the outcomes of their religious and patriotic activities, whichhave helped strengthen the great national solidarity over the past fourdecades.

The official asked theVBS to uphold patriotism and the spirit of “leading good religious and secularlives” to join the entire people in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, making good preparations for the 9th NationalBuddhist Congress in 2022, and realising the aspiration for a prosperous andhappy nation./.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year.
