Hanoi (VNA) –The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, theGovernment and the Vietnam Fatherland Front on February 2 held a state-levelfuneral for former Politburo member Nguyen Duc Binh, who is also former head ofthe Central Theoretical Council and former Director of the Ho Chi Minh NationalAcademy of Politics, who passed away on January 31.
Delegations with PartyGeneral Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc and many other high-ranking officials as heads paid last respects to thedeceased at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi. Many former Party and Stateleaders were also present or sent their wreaths to the event.
In the visitor’s note,Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong as well as PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed Binh’s various great and outstandingcontributions to the Party and the people of Vietnam, especially in the fieldof political theory, ideology and culture.
The respect-payingceremony was followed by a memorial service for Binh who will be buried in hishome province of Ha Tinh on February 3.
Nguyen Duc Binh was born on September 9, 1927 in the centralprovince of Ha Tinh. He participated in revolutionary activities in August 1945and became a member of the CPV in 1946. He was a member of the CPV CentralCommittee in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th tenures, and a member of the Politburoin the 7th and 8th tenures.-VNA
