The 70 million VND (3,290 USD) house wasgifted to orphan sisters Ho Thi Liec and Ho Xay in Ngan Thuy commune, LeThuy district by the VNA Trade Union, Le Thuy district People’sCommittee and Hanoi-based Hung Binh company.
The VNA delegations also presented 260 Tet gift packages to ethnic minority households in Quang Binh.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan handedover 330 million VND (14,100 USD) as aid to teachers and students frompoor background in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan.
Besides, he presented 20 tonnes of rice to ethnic schools in thenorthern provinces of Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and Dien Bien.
In the central province of Quang Nam, the provincial Red Cross Societyhanded over 60 breeding cows worth over 1 billion USD (47,000 USD) tothe poor in the border district of Nam Giang.
Theactivity was part of the “cow bank” project launched by the Vietnam RedCross Society. First calves born by the one-year old and vaccinated cowsare expected to be handed over to other households to help them improveincome.
So far, the Quang Nam Red Cross Society hasgiven nearly 170 breeding cows valued at 2.2 billion VND (103,400 USD)to locals, while seven calves have been handed over to other families.
In the future, the society plans to offer 120additional cows to poor ethnic minority households in Tay Giang and NamTra My mountainous districts.-VNA
