Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 1,000 Vietnamese youths and volunteers from 30countries worldwide, social organisations and non-governmental organisationsjoined the Global Volunteering Day (GVD) 2018 event held in Hanoi on May 20.

The event was jointly held by the Volunteers for Peace Vietnam, the Embassy ofIreland in Hanoi and the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS).

The GVD has a diversity of activities and experiences for the youths, IrishAmbassador to Vietnam Cait Moran said at the opening ceremony. She expressedher hope that the event will become a large cultural and volunteer festival forthose who love voluntary activities and want to discover different cultures in theworld.

Domestic and international volunteers shared their knowledge under the event’s theme“Inequality: In or Out”.

An exhibition and a festival featuring various cultures along with their cuisineand music were held in the framework of the event.-VNA

Two wanted for abusing religious cover to undermine national unity policy

The fugitives are Di (also known as Siu Di), born in 1941, and Dinh Yum (also known as Dinh Jum or Ba Koih), born in 1963, from Ba Na ethnic minority group in Gia Lai province, and hold Vietnamese nationality. They have been charged under Clause 1, Article 116 of the Penal Code for undermining the national unity policy.

Support delivered to Khmer households for traditional New Year

The province's delegation of National Assembly deputies, in coordination with relevant agencies, presented 600 gifts across 11 communes, including 100 in Tap Son commune and 50 in each of the others. The programme, worth 300 million VND (11,300 USD), was funded by Agribank’s Vinh Long branch.
