Tran Van Hau, Deputy General Director of the Hung Ca Company, one of tra fish exporters in the Mekong Delta, said the Steering Committee of Tra Export to Russia has helped increase the quality of the product and that more committees on tra export to other markets should be set up.
Head of the committee Duong Ngoc Minh had earlier said that since his committee was set up, Vietnamese seafood exporters and their Russian partners have reached a number of agreements on the quality, quantity and price of tra imports.
These agreements have helped to ease difficulties for tra farmers in the Mekong Delta, Minh said, adding that Vietnam’s tra exports to Russia may reach 70,000-80,000 tonnes, worth 1.2-1.3 billion USD in total this year.
At present, there are 30 Vietnamese businesses permitted to export tra fish and seafood to Russia./.
