Hanoi (VNA) – Google has recently announced a programme helping Vietnamese startups go global.

Vietnamese startups which have been set up for no more than five years and are yet to process Series B funding will be eligible for Google Cloud packages worth from 20,000 – 100,000 USD, said a Google representative.

Firms with products based on digital technology and those eyeing global markets can register at the website g.co/cloudstartups.

The Google Cloud for Startups aims to help users to develop their own startups with infrastructure and tools used by Google.

The early-stage startups can take advantage of community events, training and Cloud credits as they build their business.

Vietnam is among the most dynamic startup hubs in the world and well-educated, young entrepreneurs are expected to improve the country’s position on the global startup map.

There are no official statistics on startups in Vietnam, but according to some regional tech sources, as many as 3,000 are operating in the country, making it the third largest startup ecosystem in Asia.

The country jumped 12 places to 47th among 127 economies on the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s 2017 Global Innovation Index, its highest ranking in the past 10 years. In Southeast Asia, it sits behind only Singapore and Malaysia. -VNA
