Ha Tinh police launch criminal proceedings against illegal migration brokerage

Police in the central province of Ha Tinh on October 31 decided to start criminal proceedings against a case of organising and brokering illegal emigration in the locality under Article 349 of the Penal Code.

Ha Tinh (VNA) –Police in the central province of Ha Tinh on October 31 decided to start criminalproceedings against a case of organising and brokering illegal emigration inthe locality under Article 349 of the Penal Code. 

Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, headof the Ha Tinh Police’s Investigation Security Agency, said initial evidenceshowed that there are brokerage services to sendlabourers overseas to work or stay illegally.

Earlier on October 23, the UKpolice found 30 dead people in a container truck in Essex in northeast London.

Upon hearing the news,several families in Ha Tinh reported to local authorities that they had lostcontact with their relatives who were on the way to the UK.

Authorities are collectingDNA samples from the families to send to the UK for verification.

According tothe provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the provincehad more than 72,000 people working abroad under fixed-term contracts between2009 and 2019.

About 6,600local workers on average have gone overseas to work each year./.
