The Hai Phong customs office has caught the biggest smuggled elephant tusks over the last two years.
On October 9, Customs officials in Hai Phong city seized over 2 tonnes of smuggled elephant tusks, 146.5 kilograms of the sea turtle scales and 2.3 tonnes of dried sea mollusks.
The smuggled products, categorised as temporary import for re-export goods, were hidden in a 40-feet container which declared as 20 tonnes of sea oysters originating from Malaysia.
Elephant tusks and sea turtle scales have been named on CITES banned list.-VNA
