A blaze aboard the RBD Borea, a Cypriot container ship, was completely extinguished in the port city of Hai Phong on August 18.
The vessel was moved to Doan Xa wharf while its remaining containers were brought ashore ensure their safety.
The fire began in the early afternoon of August 17 when one phosphorus-carrying container in the RDB Borea burst into flames as the ship was leaving the port for Hong Kong.
Hai Phong authorities immediately responded by sending forces to rescue the ship’s crew and cargo.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have yet to be determined. An investigation is currently underway.-VNA
