Hanoi will strive to have all departments and districts meet qualifications to be granted ISO quality management certificates by 2010, and all communes by 2012.

This goal was announced by Deputy Director for the Hanoi ISO Steering Committee Le Xuan Rao. The Committee will decide which units have met the standards and issue the certificates.

The Vietnam 9001:2000 standard is the international standard of quality management systems, which were issued by the International Organisation for Standardisation, and accepted by Vietnam as national standard. The standard can be applied to all administrative units and enterprises.

“The ISO 9001: 2000 is a scientific management system, which helps business be more efficient and streamline administrative procedures,” said Rao.

By the end of last month, all departments and districts in the city implemented the ISO quality management systems, and 23 out of 29 districts received the ISO 9001: 2000 certificates./.
