Hanoi boosts cooperation with German locality

Hanoi is willing to collaborate with and facilitate German firms, particularly those from Thuringia, to invest and operate in the city, stated Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi is willing to collaborate withand facilitate German firms, particularly those from Thuringia, to invest andoperate in the city, stated Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee NguyenDuc Chung.

The official made the statement while receiving a visitingdelegation from the eastern German federal state, led by its Minister-PresidentBodo Ramelow, on April 8.

Chung said he hopes the sides will exchange more delegationsto gain experience and come up with additional specific cooperation projects,particularly in labour affairs, vocational training, high-tech medicalequipment supply, digitalisation, and smart city building.

He informed his guests of Hanoi’s socio-economic developmentover the years.

Accordingly, the capital led the nation in terms of foreigndirect investment (FDI) attraction last year, with its provincialcompetitiveness index ranking ninth among Vietnam’s 63 provinces and cities. 

Chung also pointed to major challenges facing the city, liketraining high-quality workforce, as well as tackling traffic jams andpollution.

He noted that in order to deal with such challenges,boosting cooperation with European countries, including Germany, is a priority.He added that advanced technologies from Germany, and particularly Thuringia,will be useful for Hanoi.

For his part, Ramelow lauded the fruitful growth of jointwork between Vietnam and Thuringia. He revealed that companies in his statespoke highly of Vietnamese interns.

He hoped Hanoi will remain a trustworthy partner of Thuringia.Agreeing with his host, he said the sides should step up their experienceexchanges and collaborate more in environmental pollution treatment andvocational training support.

The delegation began their eight-day working visit to Hanoiand Ho Chi Minh City on April 6, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister andForeign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

NA endorses 10% preferential tax rate for all press agencies

To affirm the Party and State’s commitment to supporting the press, the NA Standing Committee has adopted the government’s proposal to apply a uniform preferential corporate tax rate of 10% to all types of press. This move aligns with the current tax incentives for print newspapers.

The visit also showed that Vietnam wants to further strengthen political trust between the two countries, identify orientations to bring the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia to new heights, strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and major political parties in Russia.
