As many as 370 prisoners in Hanoi’s three jails will have their sentences commuted on the occasion of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival under a decision by the Hanoi People’s Court announced on February 3.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Hanoi Police Deputy Director Tran Thuy praised the inmates’ efforts during their time in jail and encouraged those who didn’t receive commuted sentences on this occasion to endeavour, through hard work, re-education and good behaviour, to be among those selected next time.
