Hanoi launches electric bus tour of old quarter

A pilot project to operate 12 electrically powered buses around Hoan Kiem Lake and in Hanoi's Old Quarter for tourists was launched on July 17.
A pilot project to operate 12 electrically powered buses around HoanKiem Lake and in Hanoi's Old Quarter for tourists was launched on July17.

The service, run by the Dong Xuan Joint StockCo, will start from a station in Dinh Tien Hoang street to take touristsaround Hoan Kiem Lake, or the Lake of the Returned Sword, and toguild streets, food courts and historical relics in the Old Quarter.

The operation hours during the day will be from8.30 am - 4.30 pm and from 7 pm - 11 pm and a ride cost 15,000 VND (0.8USD).

The Old Quarter, situated near theequally historic Hoan Kiem Lake, was created in the 11th century, whenthe 100-hectare area was home to 36 guilds, each of which gave its nameto a street. Thus, there is a Hang Bac Street which was once home tosilversmiths and a Hang Mam Street named for fish sauce.

There are 4,000 houses here, a fourth of which are more than100 years old. The project is to promote beautiful images ofHanoi, further develop the city's tourism industry and to celebrate theupcoming 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi./.

Excavation for war remains begins in Quang Ngai

Ministry details early gains in IP violation crackdown

Police across the country have initiated criminal proceedings in 56 cases, involving 98 suspects, for violations of copyright and related rights, industrial property offences, and the production and sale of counterfeit goods. Japan remained the top destination, taking in 24,030 workers, including 10,750 women. Taiwan (China) followed with 21,104 workers, 6,752 of them women. The Republic of Korea (RoK) received 3,217, China 1,498, Singapore 704, Greece 441 and Russia 344.
