Hanoi: new enterprises rise 20% in July

Nearly 18,000 new enterprises were established in the capital city of Hanoi in the first seven months of this year, with a total registered capital of 162.1 trillion VND.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi authorities granted certificates to 3,007 new enterprises in July, up 20% over last year’s corresponding period, with a total registered capital of 24.1 trillion VND (958.91 million USD), up 4%, according to the municipal People’s Committee.

However, 447 firms announced their dissolution and 2,015 others registered to suspend operations, up 52% and 43%, respectively. Meanwhile, 997 companies resumed operations, up 56%.

Nearly 18,000 new enterprises were established in the capital city in the first seven months of this year, with a total registered capital of 162.1 trillion VND.

The figures represented year-on-year decreases of 2% in the number of enterprises, and 9% in the registered capital.

In the period, 2,500 enterprises were dissolved, a year-on-year increase of 18%, and 18,200 registered to suspend operations, up 23%. Besides, 6,600 companies restored operations, a 14% rise compared to the same period last year.

During the seven months, Hanoi attracted 1.3 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), with 143 new projects worth 1.1 billion USD and 102 projects permitted to increase investment capital by 138 million USD.

A total of 118 foreign investors contributed capital and bought shares worth 77 million USD in the reviewed period.

Hanoi’s index of industrial production (IIP) in July rose 2.3% over the previous month and 6.2% year on year.

The index increased by 5.2% during the January-July period, with manufacturing-processing up 4.4%, electricity production and distribution up 12.8%, and water supply, and waste and wastewater treatment up 8.8%./.
