Reference exchange rate going down at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,177 VND/USD on September 9, down 25 VND from the last working day of previous week (September 6).

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,177 VND/USD on September 9, down 25 VND from the last working day of previous week (September 6).

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 25,386 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,968 VND/USD.

At major commercial banks, the opening hour rates continued seeing a sharp decrease.

At 8:33 am, Vietcombank and BIDV listed the buying rate at 24,440 VND/USD and the selling rate at 24,780 VND/USD, both down 130 VND from September 6.

Similarity, BIDV cut both rates by 140 VND to post the buying rate at 24,430 VND/USD and the selling rate at 24,770 VND/USD./.
