Hanoi records six new COVID-19 cases

Hanoi’s Health Department confirmed six new COVID-19 cases between 6pm on October 3 and 6am on October 4.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s Health Department confirmed six new COVID-19 cases between 6pm on October 3 and 6am on October 4.

Of them, five infections related to the Vietnam-German Friendship Hospital.
 
Two new cases were reported in Hoan Kiem and one each in Nam Tu Liem, Ung Hoa, Gia Lam and Dong Anh districts.

As many as 16,217 people related to the hospital’s outbreak were given testing, including medical workers, caregivers of patients at the hospital and residents around the hospital.

As of 6am on October 4,  31 COVID-19 cases were reported related to the hospital. Seventeen of them are living in Hanoi and fourteen others are from different provinces.

Since April 29, Hanoi has documented 4,008 COVID-19 cases, including 1,603 ones detected in the community.

In related news, at a meeting between the city’s Department of Health, Centre of Disease Control and Vietnam-German Friendship Hospital on October 4, leaders of the hospital proposed transferring patients to other hospitals in Hanoi.

Specifically, the hospital has contacted three health facilities to ease the burden while patients and their relatives can continue their treatment. It is expected that about 200 people will be moved to Hanoi Medical University Hospital while Thanh Nhan Hospital and Duc Giang Hospital will receive 450 and 350, respectively.

Currently, COVID-19 cases related to the hospital have been referred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment./.
