Hanoi takes actions to improve population quality

he People's Committee of Hanoi is putting forward measures to stabilise population size, maintain replacement level fertility, minimise gender imbalance at birth, and improve population quality and health care for the elderly, thus contributing to fulfilling local socio-economic targets.

Hanoi (VNA) - The People's Committee of Hanoi is putting forwardmeasures to stabilise population size, maintain replacement level fertility,minimise gender imbalance at birth, and improve population quality and healthcare for the elderly, thus contributing to fulfilling local socio-economictargets.

This year, the capital city is striving toreduce the third child birth rate by 0.15% year-on-year,and achieve 88% of the elderly having their health checked-up, 84% of pregnantwomen receiving four common disease screening, and 89% of new-borns receivingfive common disease screening. The rate of elderly people receiving regularhealth checks is 88%.

The sex ratio at birth is expected to be 111boys/100 girls, the rate of couples receiving consultation and healthexamination before marriage will be 65%, and the number of people using newcontraceptive methods will be 403,730.

To that end, the municipal People'sCommittee continues to implement a project to promote and expand the society's involvement in supplying contraceptives, family planning commodities and reproductivehealth services to 2030; and plans to approve another to expand the screening,diagnosis, and treatment of several prenatal and neonatal diseases in the city to2030; and implements activities and models to improve population quality in thenew situation./.

Sea turtle nests on Lam Dong's Hon Cau island for sixth time this year

Since the beginning of 2026, sea turtles have nested six times at three beaches on Hon Cau island, namely Nhat, Mui Tau and Ba Hon. Three nests were left undisturbed at safe locations, while another three were relocated to the incubation area for protection, involving a total of 246 eggs.

Administrative reform shifts focus to practical results

Agencies largely kept the receipt, processing and return of administrative results running continuously, openly and transparently, with citizens and firms at the centre of public service delivery. They also kept upgrading, linking and using the databases serving administrative processing, carried out tasks under the 100-day Action Plan for the Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW, and rolled out new initiatives and models to lift service quality.

People-to-people diplomacy contributes to Ho Chi Minh City’s development

Ho Chi Minh City currently has 117 licensed foreign NGOs operating in areas including healthcare, education, social protection and community development. As of September 2026, the municipal People’s Committee had approved 30 applications to receive and implement project and non-project aid packages, with total committed funding of about 302 billion VND (11.6 million USD).
