Hanoi to allocate assistance for needy

Hanoi has decided to allocate nearly 200 billion VND as gifts to elderly and poor people, as well as people receiving regular State allowances in the city on the occasion of the upcoming Tet.
Hanoi People’s Committee has decided to allocate nearly 200 billion VND (nearly 10 million USD) as gifts to elderly and poor people, as well as people receiving regular State allowances in the city on the occasion of the upcoming traditional New Year Festival (Tet).

Beneficiaries will be 733,133 people, including more than 1,000 people aged over 100 and 148,148 poor households.

Heroic mothers, war invalids, heroes of armed forces and people who had rendered services to the nation will each receive a gift package worth 500,000 VND.

Meanwhile, children of war veterans, who were affected with chemical substances and are receiving monthly State allowances, and people representing families to worship war martyrs will receive 300,000 VND each.

People aged 100 and over will get 1 million VND each and retired State employees will receive 200,000 VND per person.

The city will give 300,000 VND to each poor household.

In addition, People’s Committees of the city’s districts and departments, sectors and agencies will raise funds to bring Tet gifts to disabled people, street children and poor people in the city.

The city also provided 100,000 VND to each trainee at drug detoxification and social education centres and 200,000 VND to each staff member at those centres./.
